"Families are as diverse as individuals. The activities they do together vary, but one thing is true for all of them: "In family relationships love is really spelled t-i-m-e, time." Whether family members get together for scheduled outings, sharing interests, or serving others, these gatherings strengthen relationships that can be eternal."
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

What would a vacation be without cousins?????  Well, from the looks of these pictures I think it may not be as FUN!  I love that my kids have so many cousins that are their age and that they have such fun with.  There are 14 grandkids- 9 and under and at times this can be overwhelming (like when we go into a restaurant and there are no dads so it is 14 kids and 4 moms!)  They all get along really well and LOVE to play with each other.  A big THANK YOU to my sister and sister-in-laws for having kids at the same time I did and for having such great kids!

While most of our time was spent on the beach we did have some fun times in the condo.  There was lots of eating, playing games, eating, sleeping, eating, phone games, eating, laughing, sun screen applying, movies and did I mention eating?!

Grandpa's Toys

Grandpa's Toys are so much FUN!

My dad has been known to spend LOTS of time browsing the isles of Walmart and Sam's Club looking for FUN things!  This trip was no exception.  One day he and Chase went to Walmart and came back with lots of fun toys to play with.  Ladder ball, bats and balls, Lacrosse, Bubbles.... so many fun things for the grandkids to play with!  THANKS GRANDPA!

Father's Day Present.... A Metal Detector!

The Grandkids and Grandpa finding "treasures"

My Dad is so hard to get presents for.  In some ways he is very easy to shop for because he likes everything but it is hard because he already has everything!   So, we decided to get him a metal detector!  We had the grandkids go and bury some money in the sand and then after Grandpa opened his gift they went on a treasure hunt with him!  The kids had a great time with their Grandpa!

Father's Day in California

My AMAZING Dad!

We celebrated Father's Day in California.  We went to church earlier in the day and stayed for the entire block.  It was so nice because we could put all the kids in their classes and enjoy the classes with my family!  Later that day the Figs arrived and we all went down to the beach to talk and watch my Dad open his presents.  (no kids "accidentally" ended up in the water this year!!!)
It was so nice to be able to spend the day with my Dad.  He is such an amazing man and is such a great example of what a Father should be.  He knows how to work hard and to play hard.  That is definitely something that he passed on to his kids!  As long as you work hard then you can play hard!  He provides so many amazing things for his family and always has.  We have sooooo many great family memories and lots of fun times because of him!  He is funny, smart, kind, compassionate, thoughtful, caring, and loving.  He gets excited to go to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Legoland...... any of these places (and he doesn't even really like most of the rides).  He just enjoys seeing others have fun!  He is such a great example to me and to my kids.  He has an amazing testimony and a very sensitive heart!  I love you so much Dad- you are the best Dad any girl could have!

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA JUNE 2009

THE PIER
Lindsay, Sam and Grandma
The kids eating at Ruby's on the Pier (Yes, that is the ocean!)
Grandma and Blake at the MOTEL
Another summer is here and that means.....CONDO TIME!  Yeah!!!!  This year we went up a day earlier than usual with the Hubers, Mom, Sam and Lindsay.  We arrived at our MOTEL late at night on Friday.  It was funny watching all 13 of us try to sneak into our hotel room (that is only meant for 4 people and was right above the managers office).  We got up there and Sheri and Michael got a bed, mom and Lindsay got the other bed, Beau was in his playcrib, Belle, Brock, Chase and Sam were all on blow up matresses and Me, Hayden, Blake and Lauren were on a Queen size blow up matress.  Well, about 2 hours into the night our matress was flat as a pancake.  Not only that I was freezing...my blanket was in the car.  SO...against everything I believe in I actually used the "body fluid blanket" to cover myself.  GROSS I know!  You all know what I am talking about.  The nasty, gross comforter that motels leave on the beds and never wash.  But, hey I was 5 minutes from the beach and the next day we would be at the nice, clean condo!  Good thing that I can function on little sleep!
The next morning after a few good laughs, and a phone call from the manager telling us to be quiet we headed out to the pier.  We ate breakfast at Ruby's that is at the very end of the pier... it was so fun!  It was neat to be out in the ocean (without really being in the ocean) and pretend that we were back on the "Disney Cruise".
After breakfast we were going to go to the beach but it was cold and rainy.  We ended up at the movies instead and saw UP in 3D.  It was so cute and the kids had a great time!  After the movie we went to the CONDO!!!!!!  We all went down to the beach and Steven and family were already there.  A little while later Scott and his family arrived.  We enjoyed the rest of the day on the beach and I was definitely glad to have a nice, comfy bed to sleep in that night!
